It is with a heavy heart that I have to post this. Some content is harder to publish than others. This is one of those difficult times. Unfortunately, Janet Sitchin has sent out an email to the Sitchin fan and insiders community informing everyone that Erik Poltorak was killed right here in California. Here is the letter:
Sitchin-ites and Inner Circle:
It is with sadness that I report the tragic loss of a Sitchin-friend today. I have only the barest of facts, but it was reported to me less than an hour ago that Erik Poltorak was killed today in California.
Erik became a Sitchin-fan at a young age and had the privilege of traveling on many trips with Zecharia. He attended all of the early Sitchin seminars and became an official “Sitchinite”, the name reserved for those close fans who had met Zecharia personally at these events. With his enthusiasm, he became an assistant at the seminars and in helping to plan them with Zecharia and David.Erik’s encouragement led to the establishment of the Sitchin.com web site and he was the web master for the first 5 or more years, until I took over responsibility at Zecharia’s request. Without Erik, there would not have been a web site.
Erik was an important supporter of Zecharia’s work, speaking to groups and on radio and on a recent television show about Zecharia’s theories and helping to spread the ideas and message.
Erik leaves behind a young daughter whom he loved dearly, and many friends. My condolences to his family and close friends. We will all have an empty space in our hearts without him.
If I hear any details regarding services or a memorial, I will pass that along to you.
