Something startling came to my attention today. In a post by UFO Blogger, it was noted that in their traffic statistics, the Navy Network Information Center (NNIC) had taken a peek at their blog. That inspired me to take a look at some more specific information on my own visitors and wouldn’t you know?! There are some interesting characters sneaking around on my site as well. So here are some screen shots of my analytics detailing the IP identification of each visitor to my site over the last 30 days alone:

NASA (second one down, 1 visit and looked at 2 pages)
ICC (International Criminal Court, 1 visit and looked at 2 pages as well)
Look at all the New York Agencies!
The FAA!!
UK’s Ministry of Defence actually came TWICE!
The NNIC visited a number of times…
In addition to these suspicious visits I had visits from several foreign agencies, 3 airlines and more than 60 blocked, unidentified or masked IP addresses. Who knows what those were?! I’m not a professional when it comes to reading these things but some things are very obvious and the bottom line is that yes, the government is having a peek at many of us, but why?
Well, like UFO Blogger, some think that it may have to do with Julian Assange’s announcement that Wikileaks is preparing to release documents highlighting extraterrestrial contact, extraterrestrial UFO’s and the like. Maybe they’re just trying to see if our websites are kiddie porn websites? Maybe they are keeping tabs on UFO activity through us? Maybe they are seeing if we’re falling for their misinformation campaigns? No one knows right now but I must say that it is a bit disturbing to say the least. I know that I, for one, have done nothing wrong and can defend my freedom of speech, however, I’m sure others are wiping a bit of sweat from their brows right now.
Either way, I wouldn’t worry too much boys and girls. While it is a bit unnerving, the fact of the matter is that the USA and all the other government agencies have so much more to deal with than us UFO nuts. True, if Wikileaks does in fact release documents they want taken down and we repost them, that could really be an issue, so my personal recommendation would be to simply provide links to the actual documents as opposed to putting them on your own server, but nonetheless, there’s not much they can do, will do, or want to do to us… the lowly bloggers and alternative news e-zines. Take a deep breath and relax.

Just because people from those IP’s are viewing your blog doesn’t mean government or military institutions are monitoring you. Don’t forget, the government and the military are made up of people, and people have many interests. For all you know it could be a bored admin worker. How many of the visits are at around their local lunchtime, say, between 12 and 2 pm ?
I would agree with this except for the fact that this seems to be happening only to websites specifically posting about Julian Assange PLUS, unless you have another explanation, I was told by a friend in the military who is in fact interested in these things, that just like any other job, you’re only allowed to use the computer and internet for specific purposes and they’re much more strict about this than your run of the mill office. Anyway, it would make sense that they want to know what’s being said about them. To see what people are saying and catching onto? To see if we are believing the lies they tell us? Who knows!
One more thing, that was the Netherlands MoD that visited you.
My Bad!

I tend to agree with deepcut above. A couple years ago I was working for a contractor to DOE in Oak Ridge, TN, and when we were bored or had time, several of us techno-geeks liked to peruse UFO blogs for the latest updates. Personal curiosity plus a little Fox Mulder “I want to believe” attitude explained it all.
And again, I just find it interesting that they’re only hitting on a couple of articles. I got three hits today from different agencies on this very article LOL Let’s see if any of the great service men of our country are willing to explain LOL
